District Energy St. Paul Celebrates 40th Anniversary
This fall District Energy celebrated its 40th year of service. In September 1983, heating service began with the George Latimer Central Library and 79 customers followed over the first three years. Today, District Energy serves more than 80% of downtown Saint Paul with reliable, efficient, and sustainable energy solutions.
To commemorate this achievement, the District Energy team hosted a special anniversary event in September. This gathering brought together community members, customers, stakeholders, and our dedicated team to share stories and reflect on the remarkable journey of the past four decades.
Celebrating Four Decades with Four Employees
We are thrilled to celebrate incredible milestones for four team members celebrating 40 years of service in 2023. Ron Anderson, Plant Superintendent, John Skeie, Relief Lead Engineer, Joe Lee, Foreman, and Jeff Amacher, Relief Lead Engineer all celebrated 40 years of service with District Energy this year. Over the years, District Energy has worked to retain and celebrate exceptional talent. These four individuals are a testament to that mission and their work has been instrumental in the evolution of District Energy over the last four decades.

Volunteering with Metro Blooms
Our team joined Metro Blooms to spend a morning planting native plants at a nearby Saint Paul park. Team members worked to remove some invasive weeds and replace them with a variety of native species alongside Metro Blooms experts. This collaboration was in an effort to enhance the park’s natural beauty and biodiversity while also giving back to the community. This joint effort highlighted the importance of preserving local ecosystems for a greener future.

This month we hosted our annual Operating Engineers Seminar focused on building controls and monitoring and optimizing Delta T. Thank you to everyone who joined the seminar in person and participated in some great conversations.
